  i think i heard the word "intellectual" for the first time when i was less than ten years old.. my grandmother said to me that the presidential candidate for the democratic party (adalai stevenson) was an "intellectual".. the way she said the word...the timbre of her voice...the look of admiration on her face...led me to believe this was a good thing indeed!.

  i think i may have asked her what the word meant, but, i don't recall exactly what she told me.

  perhaps enough to confirm that this fellow stevenson was a "thinker" of admirable stature.. fast forward.. by the time my teen years came along there was a kind of dichotomy in society between so-called "eggheads" and common folk.

  Words is words in the words of Keith Richards and unfortunately I took those words to heart ages ago so I put myself at a distinct disadvantage in this world and never really learned much. But it seems to me that a true intellectual tries to better their audience rather than belittle which is what so many do in trying to show their smarts. Too damn much yammerin' about.

  2008 awake july p.11 "bibles view of spiritism" "...says luis who is from puerto rico;"from the time i was a child, my family was involved in spiritism....i thought my ability to foresee the future and read tarot cards was natural.

  i could often pick lottery numbers and help others win money.

  had a long conversation with my mom tonight and we went back and forth for over an hour regarding the wt.

  she said something tonight that kind of left me speechless as i've never heard anything like this one before.

  When I heard about the 32 pages proof I just let it go. I don't think that it was the exact number of pages that counted but that they were so consistent about it and that the necessary info ALWAYS fit into the same format. Always 32 pages. Now, somehow I doubt that that is even true - always the skeptic - even with the printing process setup. Surely that has changed over the years.
  
  But here's the thing, she did not sit there and count pages to check to see that they are always the same. She got this from someone else. Had to have. Maybe an email going around or just some elder that is "in the know about such things". It just strikes me as very odd even for them but perhaps I give 'em too much credit at times.
  
  As to Godzilla the documentary, I love that retort.

  ok everyone, just some fun here - no i haven't got wind of any change in the pipeline but, if the watchtower bible and tract society were to ditch the name watchtower altogether, what would they call the watchtower magazine instead?

  all suggestions warmly welcomed......
